Parents of Prep–2 students

An audio recording of the seminar available to listen to below (62mins)

Learning to read is one of the most important things your child will learn at school; it is also one of the most complex. At BGS, reading is taught through synthetic phonics, which is an explicit, systematic instructional approach utilising letter-sound combinations. Once students learn the reading ‘code’, they are able to sound out words, and eventually attain reading fluency.

This important seminar, presented by Zoe Picton, Literacy Co-ordinator P–6, will help demystify this process for parents and provide practical strategies you can use at home to help develop your child as a reader.
